Personal care is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves. Self-love, a form of personal care can brighten our mood, strengthen our bodies, and provide rest for our soul.
Sadly many women give so much of themselves to others that they have nothing left for themselves. Our society is filled with messages that say we’re not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough or, loveable enough. This sets the stage for low self-esteem, health issues, and a barrage of other negative results. It's vitally necessary to love yourself, and it's okay! Self-love leads to a more beautiful, well-balanced life!
Self-love is not a one size fit all deal nor is it a one-day affair. Each person will have to tailor their own care around their specific needs. If you need affirmations, write yourself encouraging notes and place them around your home or office where you'll frequent throughout the day. If you need rest, take a day off and do absolutely nothing! Get a sitter for the kids, turn off all electronic devices and sleep. It really does the body good! If you need a makeover, take a trip to your local cosmetics counter and search for new products, get a facial, or a mani/pedi.
In the spirit of Valentine's Day and love, take a moment to love the one that you'll always be with....yourself! Learn how to love who you are, on your way to the person you want to become. Find something that you love about yourself and the rest will come with patience and time. It's a day by day progress, but aren't you well worth the investment?
